⚠️📢💧 URGENT! Boil Advisory! ⚠️📢💧 This afternoon, a waterline break on 2nd E was identified, leading to a loss in water pressure. Due to the loss of pressure, a boil order advisory was placed in effect for those who have lost pressure. Please note that the advisory can not be lifted until such time that water pressure returns, has been tested, and adequately determined to be safe. See the Boil Order Below for more information. Our Public Works Crews request residents to limit water use during the low-pressure period to prevent further contamination and flow of water in the system. Please use this map to see areas that have been affected. Residents located outside of the marked area who are experiencing a loss in water pressure are advised to call the water department. 🌟✨ **Tabernacle Tuesday!** As we gather to celebrate the history and community spirit of Rexburg's beloved Tabernacle, we must also acknowledge the challenges it faces. This iconic 115 year old building, has withstood the test of time, but it requires all of our attention. Nearly 50 years ago, the Teton Dam Flood left a mark on our community and significantly damaged this treasured structure. While the City was able to bring it back to code after purchasing it a few years later, the necessary full restoration was never completed due to budget constraints. 🛠️ Today, we find ourselves at a similar crossroads. The Tabernacle is in need of critical upgrades, including ADA accessibility improvements, extensive plumbing renovations, bathroom repairs, crucial structural enhancements, heating and cooling system upgrades, and more. 🛠️ Your awareness is vital in our efforts to restore this historic building as we work to preserve the Tabernacle and help ensure that it serves our community's social needs moving forward for many years to come. #TabernacleTuesday #RexburgRestoration #CommunityFirst #PreserveOurHistory

🌟 Fun fact: Did you know the Museum of Rexburg had a home before the Tabernacle? The museum originally opened on College Avenue in March 1970, thanks to the efforts of the Upper Snake River Valley Historical Society! 🎉 This museum became a treasure trove of local history, showcasing donations and captivating visitors with stories from our past. However, when the Teton Flood hit in 1976, the museum closed, later finding a new home in the basement of the Tabernacle in 1981, dedicating itself to the commemoration of the flood. 🏛️ In 2016, the museum expanded its offerings to once again share stories about the pioneers of Rexburg's past in addition to the impact of the flood. In December of 2023, the museum closed its doors to prepare for the restoration of the Tabernacle. What repairs are needed at the Tabernacle that caused the museum to lose its home? Stick with us next week to find out! #TabernacleTuesday #RexburgHistory #MuseumofRexburg #TetonDamFloodMuseum

🌟 The Rexburg Tabernacle has hosted a tapestry of stories woven throughout its history, each memory like the stitch of a quilt represented in our annual quilt show each March. What is your favorite memory of the building? 🌟 With long linneages residing in Rexburg, perhaps you have a story about the building's past? Or more entrenched in the community, the building has been a cornerstone of local gatherings for over a century. A multitude of events have taken place there including music performances, graduations, interfaith holiday pageants, and political speeches. In 1913, the lawn was the central gathering place for the formation of Madison County. The County notes "...over five thousand people attended. A big barbecue was served consisting of two steers, six pigs, six lambs, and two thousand loaves of bread." Come take a trip down memory lane with us. 💡✨💡✨💡 Perhaps you were moved by a speech or performance by a national figure like Frank Church, Evan McMullin, or Matt and Savannah Shaw? Maybe a local showcase by one of our choirs, symphonies, or orchestras created an unforgettable scene? 🎤🎶 Once upon a time, the basement hosted baptisms, dances, and band recitals. In the 80's it served as a home for the Teton Dam Flood Museum, which closed in late 2023 for the building's renovation. In more recent times, our annual OkTUBERfest and the Robinson Family Light Show both garnered local recognition as "Hallmark Channel-worthy celebrations!" Each memory contributes to the rich tapestry of our shared history. We invite you to share yours on our TLC webpage - dedicated to growing the story of the Tabernacle! ✨ #TabernacleTuesday #MemoriesMatter #RexburgIdaho #ShareYourMemory #TenderLovingCare #ATapestryofMemories #TabernacleLegacyCampaign #TLC #RexburgHistory Share your memory here: www.rexburg.org/o/tabernacle/forms/tabernacle-memories

📯🎹 She's got a set of pipes in her, that one! The Rexburg Tabernacle's organ has nearly as much history as the building itself! In 1928, a pipe organ was installed (replacing the original hand-pumped organ) at a mere cost of $8,500. Our magnificent organ has been a proud symbol of our musical heritage. It faced significant challenges during the Teton Dam Flood and even more significant damage following vandalism in the aftermath, and the path to restoration was no easy task. One dedicated citizen, Ann Zollinger, was tasked with raising the funds to recover the instrument, requiring more than five times the original price value! Adding to the challenge was the need for ivory keys, despite the material being illegal to import. They raised to the challenge, finding replacements in Boston that did the job. Today, this storied instrument stands as a pivotal focal point of not only our stage, but the Auditorium itself, inspiring both musicians and audiences alike with its rich detail and intricate beauty. Join us in honoring this remarkable piece of history that reflects the resilience of our community and the enduring power of music and legacy! #RexburgTabernacle #HistoricOrgan #MusicHeritage #TabernacleTuesday #RexburgIdaho
